Haqq : The 'Truth' behind the True People
“Haqq” in Arabic language is a two lettered small word. It is very easy to speak and its meaning also seems to be simple. General meaning of Haqq is ‘truth’ or ‘right’. Haqq is an Arabic word used at numerous places by Allaah Ta’aala in the Qur’an which has different interpretations. Haqq has also been extensively used by Ambeyaa (as), Awseyaa (as), A’immat-e-Taahereen (as) and Du’aat-e-Akrameen (aq) in the past. English language has several other meanings of the word ‘Haqq’ – truth, correctness, rightness, rightful possession, one’s due, proper manner, authentic, real, right, fair and reasonable. The best of the word Haqq is the fact that it is one of the 99 Glorious Names of Allaah (Asmaa ul-Husnaa). This proves that Allaah is Haqq and He says in the Qur’an that, “Lahoo da’watul haqq” which means, ‘For Him is the Da’wat ul-Haqq – a mission of Truth or an invitation towards the Truth.’ | ||||
Rasoolullaah (saws) was born in the month of Rabi’ ul-Awwal in Makkah. All the historians unanimously accounts that when Rasoolullaah (saws) was born to Maulaatona Khadeejah al-Kubraa (as) the Angels of Allaah recited from the Heavens – “Waqul jaa’al haqqo wa zahaqal baatelo innal baatela kaana zahooqa” which means, ‘And say: Truth has come and falsehood has vanished away, indeed falsehood is ever bound to vanish’ (81/17). Every one of us knows that Allaah Ta’aala sent Rasoolullaah (saws) to the mankind to convey the message of His Shari’at and Law. Allaah stamped Rasoolullaah (saws) and his mission with the name of ‘Haqq’ to clarify that everything revealed on him and whatever he says is Truth from Allaah. When Rasoolullaah (saws) had explained about all the obligations of Islaam, Allaah Ta’aala commanded him to order the last Law of Shari’at which is Walaayat – without which all the other obligations are voided. Allaah admonished him that if you fail to convey the obligation of Walaayat, you would not have completed the Shari’at at all. While returning from the Farewell Hajj he ordered the people to assemble in the ground of Ghadeer-e-Khumm as it was commanded by Allaah. In the presence of 70,000 Hujjaaj he guided the people to the Path of Jannat by appointing Maulaana Ali (as) as his Wasi after him. He clarified to the people that, ‘As I am the path of Haqq, path of Allaah and path of the Deen of Allaah for you, after me, Maulaana Ali (as) will be like me for you all.’ Historians who have written about some strange and unusual incidences of the time of Rasoolullaah (saws) narrate an occasion when Rasoolullaah (saws) was seated with his companions. Maulaana Ali (as) was also present at that time. Rasoolullaah (saws) asked Abu Bakr and Umar, ‘O my companions, Do you want to see Haqq?’ When they both agreed, Rasoolullaah (saws) recited a du’a and a cloud descended nearby. Rasoolullaah (saws) asked them to sit over the cloud and said, ‘This cloud will take you to Haqq.’ The cloud flew them to a kingdom whose king was Maulaana Ali (as). When they saw the kingdom and Maulaana Ali (as) they went to him and enquired, ‘O Ali (as) Rasoolullaah (saws) have sent us here to see the Haqq but we don’t see Haqq anywhere!’ Maulaana Ali (as) replied, ‘O companions of Rasoolullaah (saws), you have come to the right place – nothing but I and my kingdom are Haqq.’ Rasoolullaah (saws) said to the people at Ghadeer-r-Khumm after appointing Maulaana Ali (as) as his Wasi, Aliyun ma’al haqqe wal haqqo ma’a ali, allaahumma aderil haqqa ma’ahu haiso daar’ which means, Ali (as) is with Haqq and Haqq is with Ali (as), O Allaah turn Haqq wherever Ali (as) goes.’ It’s not easy to understand what Rasoolullaah (saws) is trying to convey by saying this. Indeed it has bottomless depths because Rasoolullaah (saws) would never say a useless word. This saying is a ‘mine of facts and secrets’ which only intellectuals can comprehend. Maulaana Ali (as) does not need Haqq but it is the Haqq which needs Maulaana Ali (as). He is the origin of Haqq and Truth. He is the cause of existence of Haqq. People who have esoteric knowledge (Taweeli Ilm) are aware about the fact that “Haa” of Haqq is taken from “Hayyun” (one of the 99 Glorious names of Allaah) and “Qaaf” of Haqq is taken from “Qaiyoom” (one of the 99 Glorious names of Allaah). “Hayyun” means All Alive and “Qaiyoom” means All Perpetual. Hence the progeny of Maulaana Ali (as), who are A’immat-e-Taahereen (as), are always alive and present on this Earth. They are Hujjatullaah. |
